  • Since ancient times, Armenia was famous for its wine makers, where original traditions were kept until this day. In 2011 archaeologists in Armenia announced the discovery of the world's oldest-known wine production facility. Located in the Areni Cave complex, remains date to about 4000 BC – 900 years before the earliest comparable evidence of winemaking was found in Egyptian tombs. The wineries in Armenia produce a variety of wine that is derived from the grapes which grew only in Armenia
  • Jermuk resort town is famous for its hot springs and mineral water brands bottled in the town. It is attractive for its fresh air, waterfall, artificial lakes, walking trails, the surrounding forests and mineral water pools. The town is being redeveloped to become a modern center of tourism and health services.
  • Jermuk’s famous hot springs and underground geyser are used for spa treatments as well as for drinking. It is well-recognized for curing various diseases and neurological disorders.

  • On the shores of the Gavaraget River in the Gegharkunik region lies Noratus village. Remarkable is the villages’ southern large cemetery with its many cross-stones. The majority of them belonging to the XIII-XVII centuries, as a group of cross-stones on family cemeteries. You can also view smaller rectangular tombs here, with cross-stones placed on top of them.
